The demulcent effect of the mucilages found in Slippery elm is particularly effective when the herb is delivered as a powder mixed with water so it has a localised contact with the mucous membranes of the oesophagus and stomach. Slippery elm powder may be mixed with food such as banana and yoghurt, making it suitable and easy to use for children.

Dosage

Adults: Take 5g (1 heaped teaspoon) in 250mL of water three

times daily. Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
